The story

The Consorzio del Mobile exhibition center (Trade Fair Centre) was established by the Chamber of Commerce of Teramo and the Municipality of Mosciano S. A. and was recognized by the Regional Council by resolution no. 47 of 19.05.87. By application n ° 6693 of 10/10/91, the Regional council passed the act of concession No. 5952 of 13.09.91 for the creation of a "Consorzio del Mobile exhibition center" financed by CIPE resolution of 29.03.90 for the third annual plan implementation of the three-year program of development of the South.

The works of intervention of the Trade Fair Centre have been completed and successfully tested and the concession was defined by resolution of the Regional council of 21.10.98 n. 2744.

The main project of the work was prepared by the architect Narciso Mariotti from Teramo, the architect Lucio Ricci and the engineer Pasquale Calvarese from Roseto (TE) and included the construction of two buildings for which it indicated a total cost of about five billion old lire.

The Agency for the promotion and development of the South with the Convention of 27.09.89 financed the project for part of the amount in order to ensure the construction of the first part of the building (1.5 billion old lire). In the course of the work were presented appraisals of variation and completion to the Abruzzo Region, which in the meantime had become the recipient of the works being financed with the old law 164 / for a further sum of 3,5 billion.

The recruitment of works, experienced through formal tender, was carried out by the firm Pietro Marano from Montorio to Vomano (TE) group leader of Marano - Sites Snc, who offered the most cost-effective reduction of the auction.

The completion of the works took place on 23rd June 1993 and the work was tested on 22nd July 1993 by the engineer Mario Sciarra from Teramo. Next, were formalized administrative testing acts with the Funding and those related to technological systems and habitable conditions.

In 1997 the Consortium activated a process to achieve a more accurate and precise compliance of the planning and the final intended use of the entire building, taking into account the economic situation of the consortium boards and the changes that occurred in the territorial needs of the furniture industry and, above all, of those in the developing world (tertiary, services, education and rural development).

The University of Teramo started negotiations with the Consortium for the development of the territory. These negotiations have undoubtedly been a strong push for integration and service offerings.

The Consortium itself expressed its willingness to loan, aware of the primary importance of the services provided by the University with the activation of degree courses in Food Science and Technology in all its variations. Another strong motivation for the availability to join the request of the University was, on the one hand, the possibility of adaptation of social goals, and on the other hand, the economic and technical impossibility to directly manage a complex which had been designed and planned when the exhibition centers responded to the needs of the territory.

Today, the intervention with The University has found a valid and current solution both from the point of view of management and the enhancement of the territory.

The complex also allocated the branch of the Chamber of Commerce of Teramo and other regional requests are still being negotiated: this is one of the reasons why the Centre can be considered a centre of services extremely appropriate to the area.
